23rd Psalm
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul; He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou annointest my head with oil, my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Ecclesiastes 3:18 KJV
There is a season for everything, A time for every occupation under heaven. A time for giving birth, A time for dying; A time for planting, A time for uprooting what has been planted. A time for killing, A time for healing; A time for knocking down, A time for building. A time for tears, A time for laughter; A time for mourning, A time for dancing. A time for throwing stones away, A time for gathering them up; A time for embracing, A time to refrain from embracing. A time for searching, A time for losing; A time for keeping, A time for throwing away. A time for tearing, A time for sewing; A time for keeping silent, A time for speaking. A time for loving, A time for hating; A time for war, A time for peace.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 NIV (alternative)
To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace; Where there is hatred, let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; And where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; To be understood as to understand; To be loved, as to love; For it is in giving that we receive; It is in pardoning that we are pardoned; And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Little Angels
When God calls little children
to dwell with Him above,
We mortals sometime question
the wisdom of His love.
For no heartache compares
with the death of one small child
Who does so much
to make our world
seem wonderful and mild.
Perhaps God tires of calling
the aged to His fold,
So He picks a rosebud
before it can grow old.
God knows how much
we need them,
and so He takes but few,
To make the land of heaven
more beautiful to view.
Believing this is difficult
still somehow we must try
The saddest word mankind knows
will always be “Goodbye”.
So when a little child departs,
we who are left behind,
Must realize God loves children,
Angels are hard to find.

When I Must Leave You
When I must leave you
for a little while
Please do not grieve
and shed wild tears
And hug your sorrow to you
through the years.
But start out bravely
with a gallant smile;
And for my sake
and in my name,
Live on and do all things
the same,
Feed not your loneliness
on empty days,
But fill each waking hour
in useful ways,
Reach out your hand
in comfort and in cheer
And I in turn
will comfort you
And hold you near;
And never, never
be afraid to die,
For I am waiting
for you in the sky!

Serenity Prayer
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

When I’m Gone
When I come to the end of my journey
And I travel my last weary mile,
Just forget if you can,
that I ever frowned
And remember only the smile.
Forget unkind words I have spoken;
Remember some good I have done,
Forget that I ever had heartache
And remember I’ve had loads of fun.
Forget that I’ve stumbled and blundered
And sometimes fell by the way.
Remember I have fought some hard battles
And won, ere the close of the day,
Then forget to grieve for my going,
I would not have you sad for a day
But in summer just gather some flowers
And remember the place where I lay,
And come in the evening
When the sun paints the sky in the west
Stand for a few moments beside me
And remember only my best.

Footprints
One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the LORD. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand; one belonging to him, and the other to the LORD. When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life. This really bothered him and he questioned the LORD about it. ”LORD, you said that once I decided to follow you, you’d walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don’t understand why when I needed you most you would leave me.” The LORD replied, ”My precious, precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.”

The Lords Prayer
Our Father who art in Heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done on earth
As it is in Heaven.
Give us this day
Our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom,
And the power and the glory,
Forever.
Amen.

Safely Home
I am in Heaven, dear ones;
Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.
All the pain and grief is over,
every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
safely home in heaven at last.
Did you wonder why I so calmly
trod the valley of the shade?
Oh! But Jesus’ love illumined
every dark and fearful glade.
And He came himself to meet me
in that way so hard to tread;
And with Jesus’ arm to lean on,
could I have one doubt or dread?
Then you must not grieve so sorely,
for I love you dearly still;
Try to look beyond earth’s shadows,
pray to trust our father’s will.
There is work still waiting for you,
so you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remaineth you
shall rest in Jesus’ land.
When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!

of our death. Amen.

Afterglow
I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one.
I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.
I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways.
Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.
I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun.
Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.

John 14:1-3
Let not your heart be troubled: Ye believe in God, believe also in me.
In my Father’s house are many mansions: If it were not so, I would have told you.
I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again,
and receive you unto myself; That where I am, there ye may be also.

Love Poem (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)
Love is patient,
love is kind.
It does not envy,
it does not boast,
it is not proud.
It is not rude,
it is not self-seeking,
It is not easily angered,
it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil
but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects,
always trusts,
always hopes,
always perseveres.

God’s Garden
God looked around his garden,
And saw an empty space.
He looked down from Heaven,
And saw your smiling face.
He put his arms around you,
And whispered, “Come to rest.”
His garden must be beautiful,
He picks only the very best.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you did not go alone.
A part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.
Our thoughts are always with you,
The day God called you home.
Our thoughts are always with you,
A million times we’ve cried.
And if our love could have saved you,
You never would have died.

Welcome Home
When I am gone, release me. Let me go. I have so many things to see and do. You mustn’t tie yourself to me with tears. Be happy that we had so many years. I gave you my love. You can only guess, how much you gave to me in happiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown, but now it’s time I traveled on alone. So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must. Then let your grief be comforted by trust. It’s only for a while we must part, so bless the memories within your heart. I won’t be far away, for life goes on. So if you need me, call and I will come. Though you can’t see or touch me, I’ll be near. And if you listen with your heart, You’ll hear all of my love around you soft & clear. And then when you must come this way alone, I’ll greet you with a smile and say “Welcome Home.”

I’m Free
Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free.
I’m following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard Him call.
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day.
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way.
I found that peace at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void
then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss.
Ah yes, these things I will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow.
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life’s been full, I savored much.
Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief.
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me.
God wanted me now, He set me free.

Autumn Rain
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints upon the snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn’s rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die.

Policeman’s Prayer
Oh Lord, while I’m on my beat
May I know that you’re with me,
And protect me as I go to guard
Other’s lives and property.
Help me ignore those who scorn
And show me no respect,
But be mindful of all citizens
I’ve sworn that I’ll protect.
Be with my fellow officers
And guard their safety too.
May I always put my duty first
In the work that I must do.
May I not disgrace the uniform
But bring pride to the badge I wear.
That I’d be a good policeman, Lord
Would be my only prayer.
Amen

A Firefighter’s Prayer
When I am called to duty, God,
whenever flames may rage;
give me strength to save some life,
whatever be its age.
Help me embrace a little child
before it is too late;
or save an older person
from the horror of that fate.
I want to fill my calling
and give the best in me:
to guard my every neighbor
and protect his property.
And if, according to my fate,
I am to lose my life; please bless
with your protecting hand
my children and my wife.

A Million Times
A million times we have hugged you;
A million times we’ve cried;
If love alone could save you,
You never would have died.
If all the world was ours to give,
We would give it, yes, and more.
To see you coming up our steps
And walking through our door.
To hear your voice, to see your smile,
To sit and talk with you a while.
To be with you the same old way,
Would be our fondest wish today.
A heart of gold stopped beating,
Two smiling eyes laid to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best.

Miss Me But Let Me Go
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little but not too long
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared
Miss me- but let me go.
For this is a journey that we all
Must take and each must go alone.
It’s all a part of the Master’s plan
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of
Heart, go to the friends we know.
And bury your sorrows in doing
good deeds.
Miss me-but let me go.

The Broken Chain
We little knew that morning that
God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly.
In death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you.
You did not go alone,
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories.
Your love is still our guide.
And though we cannot see you,
You are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken
And nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one,
The Chain will link again.

A Wonderful Mother
God made a wonderful Mother,
A Mother who never grew old.
He gave her a smile of sunshine
and molded her heart into gold.
He made her so like an angel,
As anyone ever could be.

Mother, then gave that
Mother to me!

Come With Me
In tears we saw you sinking,
We watched you fade away.
You suffered much in silence,
You fought so hard to stay.
You faced your task with courage,
You felt your hope descend,
But still you kept on fighting,
Until the very end.
God saw you getting tired,
When a cure was not to be,
So he put his arms around you,
And whispered, “Come with Me.”
So when we saw you sleeping,
So peaceful, free from pain,
We could not wish you back,
To suffer that again.

A Mother’s Love
A mother’s love is something
that no one can explain.
It is made of deep devotion
and sacrifice and pain.
It is endless and unselfish
and enduring come what may;
For nothing can destroy it
or take that love away.
It is patient and forgiving
when all others are forsaking,
And it never fails or falters
although the heart is breaking.
It believes beyond believing
when the world around condemns,
And it glows with all the beauty
of the rarest, brightest gems.
It is far beyond defining,
It defies all explanation;
And it still remains a secret
Like the mysteries of creation.
A many splendored miracle
Man cannot understand;
And another wondrous evidence
of God’s tender guiding hand.

The Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge Together…

For everything You do

The Garden of Promise
There is a place, I have been told,
Beyond an open gate
All have been invited
Where friends and loved ones wait
It holds eternal promise
Of everlasting peace
No pain or sorrow ever comes
And teardrops there have ceased
Abundant life is evident
Constant, fresh and new
A garden of provision
With Eternity in view.
The promise is awaiting
A place we can abide
Fulfilled for all who answer
The call to come inside.

As big enough to keep.

Crossing the Bar
Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar
When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;
For tho’ from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crossed the bar.

Going Home
Go rest now precious one,
Your life in eternity has just begun.
Now you can walk, your legs are brand new.
All of heaven is now in your view.
Look all around, it’s all in our sight,
There will never be another dark night.
Flowers and jewels, the street of pure gold,
And all of the things that have been told.
I can just imagine the smile on your face
As you walk all around in that beautiful place.
Greeting our loved ones as you walk along,
While singing heaven’s most beautiful song.
This is so very hard, but it will be okay,
It isn’t goodbye, we’ll see you one day.
We love you and we’ll miss you
And at times it will be tough,
But as with everything,
God’s grace will be enough.

Celebration
I walk through the door with
a smile on my face,
For I know that I am going
to a far better place.
Prepared for me by a God of love,
Who sent his son Jesus
from heaven above
To show us the way,
the truth, and the life
Where there will be no more
suffering, sorrow, and strife.
So sing no sad songs for me I say,
This is not the end, but the
beginning today.
Of life everlasting on that
far away shore,
And reunion with loved ones
who have gone on before.
To glory in the glory of the Lord!

Golfer’s Prayer
For all the times I have
swung a club.
For the many friends
and the game I love.
For the patience I have
Found in sand or rough.
For the excitement of
making shots thought tough.
For success is not measured
By holes in one,
But by the times that are
shared when you are
having fun.
Lord would you grant
me one last request,
To play you a round of
the game I love best.

God’s Loan (Male or Female Version Available)
“I’ll lend you for a little time,
A child of mine,” He said;
“For you to love the while he lives,
And mourn for when he’s dead.
It may be six or seven years,
Or twenty-two or three
But will you, ’till I call him back
Take care of him for Me?
He’ll bring his charms to gladden you,
And should his stay be brief
You’ll have these precious memories,
As solace for your grief
I cannot promise he will stay,
Since all from earth return
But there are lessons taught down there,
I want this child to learn
I’ve looked this whole world over
In my search for teachers true,
And in the crowds that throng life’s land,
I have selected you,
Now will you give him all your love,
Not think the labor vain,
Nor hate me when I come
To take him back again?
It seems to me I heard them say,
‘Dear Lord, Thy will be done!
For all the joy Thy child shall bring,
The risk of grief we’ll run.
We’ll shelter him with tenderness,
We’ll love him while we may,
And for the happiness we’ve known
Forever grateful stay.
And should the angels call for him
Much sooner than we’ve planned,
We’ll brave the bitter grief that comes,
And try to understand.’

Should You Go First
Should you go first and I remain
To walk the road alone
I’ll live in memory’s garden, dear
With happy days we’ve known
In spring I’ll watch for roses red
When fades the lilac blue,
In early fall when brown leaves call
I’ll catch a glimpse of you.
Should you go first and I remain
For battles to be fought,
Each thing we’ve touched along the way
Will be a hallowed spot.
I’ll hear your voice, I’ll see your smile,
Though blindly I may grope,
The memory of your helping hand
Will buoy me on with hope.
Should you go first and I remain
To finish with this scroll,
No lengthening shadows shall creep in
To make this life seem droll.
We’ve known so much of happiness,
We’ve had our cup of joy,
And memory is one gift of God
That death cannot destroy.
Should you go first and I remain,
One thing I’d have you do:
Walk slowly down that long, lone path
For soon I’ll follow you.
I’ll want to know each step you take
That I may walk the same,
For some day down that lonely road
You’ll hear me call your name.

You Are Not Forgotten
You are not forgotten, loved one.
Nor will you ever be, As long as life and memory last,
We will remember thee.
We miss you now, our hearts are sore.
As time goes by we’ll miss you more.
Your loving smile, your gentle face,
No one can fill your vacant place.

On Eagle’s Wings

Bear you on the breath of dawn,
Make you to shine like the sun,
And hold you in the palm of His hand.

Fill Not Your Hearts
Fill not your hearts with pain
and sorrow, but remember me in
every tomorrow. Remember the joy,
the laughter, the smiles, I’ve only
gone to rest a little while.
Although my leaving causes
pain and grief, my going has
eased my hurt and given me
relief. So dry your eyes and
remember me, not as I am now, but
as I used to be. Because, I will remember
you all and look on with a smile.
Understand in your hearts, I’ve only
gone to rest a little while. As long as
I have the love of each of you, I can
live in the hearts of all of you.

Memorare
Remember O most gracious Virgin Mary
that never was it known that anyone
who fled to thy protection, implored
thy help, and sought thy intercession
was left unaided. Inspired with this
confidence, I fly unto Thee, O Virgin of
virgins, My Mother; to thee do I come;
before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful.
Oh Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise not my petitions, but, in thy
mercy, hear and answer me.
Amen

Creation’s Flight
With every changing season
The sky has seemed to say
Lift your thoughts toward Heaven
Come and fly away
Through life there is a beckon
Toward a final flight
The seasons are preparing
A change from faith to sight
And then one day it can be heard
Seems nature hears it too
The time has come to journey
To a place prepared for you
Rising toward the cloudless day
On gentle winds to glide
Toward that final season
Where eternity abides

Be Not Sorrowful
Be not sorrowful that I am gone
And my earthly life is done.
Be not sad I passed away,
For in you, my children,
I live each day.
There is a little of me in all of you.
In each new one I live anew.
So you see, I’ll never be really gone,
As long as there are children to carry on.
I have had my share of
Love, sorrow, and strife.
I have lived a full and fruitful life.
So do not mourn and do not weep,
For I have earned this peaceful sleep.

To Those I Love
To those I love and those who
love me, now that I am gone,
Release me, let me go… You have
so many things to see and do. You
mustn’t tie yourself to me with tears;
Be happy we had so many years. I gave
to you my Love. You can only guess,
How much you gave to me in happiness.
I thank you for the love that you have shown,
But now it is time I traveled on alone.
So grieve awhile for me, if grieve you
Must. Then let your grief be comforted
By trust. I won’t be far away, for life goes on.
So if you need me, call and I will come.
Though you can’t see or touch me,
I’ll be near, all of my love around you
Soft and clear. And then, when you must
Come this way alone, I’ll greet you with a
Smile, and say “Welcome Home” On with Life

God Hath Not Promised
God hath not promised skies always blue,
Flower-strewn pathways all our lives through;
God hath not promised sun without rain,
Joy without sorrow, peace without pain.
But God hath promised strength for the day,
Rest for the labor, light for the way,
Grace for the trials, help from above,
Unfailing sympathy, undying love.

When Tomorrow Starts Without Me
When tomorrow starts without me,
And I’m not there to see: if the sun
should rise and find your eyes, all filled
with tears for me. I wish so much you
wouldn’t cry, the way you do each day,
while thinking of the many things,
We didn’t get to say. I know how much
you love me, as much as I love you;
and each time that you think of me,
please know I’ll miss you, too.
But when tomorrow starts without
Me, please try to understand, that an
Angel came and called my name, and
Took me by the hand. And said a place
was ready, in heaven up above;
And that I’d have to leave behind,
all those I truly love. I had so much to
live for, so much yet to do. It seemed
almost impossible, that I was leaving you.
When tomorrow starts without me,
Don’t think we’re far apart; For every
Time you think of me, I’m right here
In your heart.

Art, Music and Words
If I could paint a picture and
capture beauty rare,
I'd paint the love aglowing that
you always choose to share.

If I could set to music,
The happiness you bring.
I'd choose a choir of thousands,
To sing, and sing and sing.

But words must be my picture
And the lyrics they impart,
A symphony and tour de force,
Sweet Mother of my heart.

The Sound of Music
The sound of music......
The sound of music gives us so much emotion,
and that plays a melody deep in our heart greatly.
All the sounds on the earth are like music,
and the music brings love and enjoyment to our life.
Music expresses universal language of the world,
and brings people together where ever they live.
Music is the best gift of God to all of us where it fills
our soul with peace and mind with creativity.

Forget-Me-Not
I give you this one thought to keep
I am with you still - I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints of snow,
I am the sunlight o ripened grain,
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night,
Do not think of me as gone;
I am with you still-in each new dawn.

Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear.

Life
Life is but a stopping place,
A pause in what’s to be,
A resting place along the road
To sweet eternity.
We all have different journeys,
Different paths along the way,
We all are meant to learn some things.
But never meant to stay…
Our destination is a place far greater
Than we know.
For some, the journey’s qucker
For some, the journey’s slow
And when the journey finally ends,
We’ll claim a great reward
And find an everlasting peace,
Together with the Lord.

Beyond Life’s Gateway
There’s an open gate
At the end of the Road,
Through which each one must go alone.
And there is a light we cannot see,
Our Father claims His Own.
Beyond the Gate our loved one finds
Happiness and rest.
And there is comfort in the thought
That a loving God knows best.
